If you can't find the answers below, please don't hesitate to get in touch
Do I need any previous experience to join a class?
Not at all! All of our Yoga and Pilates classes are suitable for all abilities, whether you’re completely new or have been practising for years.
Different levels and options are offered throughout each class, allowing you to work at a pace that feels comfortable for you. There’s no pressure to keep up with anyone else!
If you’re feeling particularly nervous or are a complete beginner, you might prefer to arrange a private session first. This is a lovely way to get familiar with the movements, equipment and style of teaching before joining a group class. Just get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.
Do I need to bring my own yoga mat or equipment?
No, all yoga mats and equipment (props) are provided. Although You’re very welcome to bring your own mat or props if you prefer, but everything you need will be here waiting for you.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Leggings, joggers, shorts and a comfortable top are all perfect.
Yoga and Pilates are generally practised barefoot, although you can wear grip socks if you prefer.
Are the classes mixed, for both men and women?
Yes! All of our classes are mixed and open to both men and women. Everyone is welcome!
What's the difference between yoga and Pilates?
Although they share some similarities, yoga and Pilates have slightly different focuses.
- Yoga combines movement, stretching, balance, breathing and mindfulness. It can help improve flexibility, strength and relaxation while giving you time to reconnect with yourself.
- Pilates focuses on building strength, particularly through the core, improving posture, stability, balance and controlled movement.
Both are fantastic ways to improve how you feel physically and mentally, and many people enjoy doing a combination of the two!
What if I can't manage a particular movement or exercise?
That’s absolutely fine! Everyone’s body is different, and some movements will feel easier than others.
Different options and modifications are offered throughout the class, so you can adapt exercises to suit your ability. You can always rest when you need to, and there’s never any pressure to do something that doesn’t feel right.
Can I attend if I'm not very flexible?
Absolutely! You don’t need to be flexible to start yoga or Pilates. In fact, improving flexibility and mobility is one of the reasons many people come to class in the first place.
You’ll work within your own comfortable range of movement, and over time you will notice improvements.
Can I attend if I'm pregnant?
Absolutely, but adaptions and modifications will probably be given. Pilates and Yoga can help keep your body mobile and pain free during pregnancy also helping to prepare for labour too.
Please get in touch so we can discuss your needs or make sure the teacher knows before hand so they can provide you with the correct exercises.
Can I attend if I have an injury or health condition?
If you have an existing injury, health condition or anything that may affect your ability to exercise, please get in touch before attending so we can discuss whether the class is suitable.
It’s always important to follow any advice given by your healthcare professional and to let your instructor know about any relevant limitations before the class begins.
Can I eat before a class?
Yes, of course! It’s generally best to avoid eating a large or heavy meal in the hour or two before your class, as some movements may feel uncomfortable on a full stomach. We also recommend bringing a bottle of water to keep hydrated.
